【内容提要】
Publication in internationally recognised journals has never been easy, but with average acceptance rates reportedly standing at typically between 5-10%, it has become increasingly difficult. Competition for publication space is high, and submissions often face desk rejection and most fail to passthrough the first round. So, how do we transform our research into papers that will make an editor’s eyes light up?
This workshop is for sharing ideas, insights and solutions to the common problems that we all encounter in the editorial process. What coping strategies can help us overcome these seemingly insurmountable barriers? How can we tailor our papers and submission letters to make them stand out from the crowd? The workshop addresses the challenges that budding—and even practised—researchers face.
This workshop mainly include:
Why are desk rejection rates so high, up to 90% and how to avoid desk rejection: winning the first battle
How to write an article that wins the support of reviewers: a section-by-section analysis
Common English writing problems (typical problems among non-native English-speaking scholars)
Learning from failure: Case analysis of R&R manuscript rejection (2 case studies)
How to handle critical, sometimes contradictory, review reports?
Understanding different rated journal expectations: What distinguishes ABS 2, ABS 3 and ABS 4 journal papers? what top journals require?
Publication landscape and staying ahead: emerging research opportunities and future prospects
